The Problem

It is estimated there are between 143 million and 210 million orphans worldwide.

Everyday 5,760 children become orphans

Everyday 38,493 children age out of institutional care, many at the age of 16 years.

At any given time there are 500,000 children in the foster care system in the United States

87.6 million orphans live in Asia

43.4 million orphans live in Sub-Saharan Africa

12.4 million orphans live in Latin America and the Caribbean

The average cost for an American to adopt a child internationally is $30,000

Every 2.2 seconds a child becomes homeless as they are dismissed from institutional care, many at the age of 16.
Eighty percent of these children will become human prey and abused through the human trafficking and drug trades.
Fifty percent of them will die before the age of 25, many of them by their own hand.

Solutions

Adoption is one of the best ways to prevent children from becoming prey to human trafficking.

Encourage and support other families that are adopting.

Consider rescuing a child through adoption or becoming a foster parent.

Volunteer at a local orphanage to visit with the children and help the staff.

Explore the problem deeper by going on a vision trip to another country.

Pray for the Lord’s vision and plan to help children in need.
